Malygos Macros |
|
Re-posting these for the Macros section. I know not a ton of guildies come here, but for those of us that do, these are good to pass on.
Now in addition to creating these macros, it's also nice to move them to a location or keybind that is bound for easy access. For instance, I have mine bound to the 'E' key (whether I'm assigned to healing or DPS). This allows for easy strafing / movement while casting - so your stack won't go down.
Enjoy:
DPSer Macro
/tar malygos
/castsequence reset=target Flame Spike, Flame Spike, Flame Spike, Engulf in Flames
Healer Macro
/tar pet
/castsequence [target=pet] Revivify, Revivify, Revivify, Revivify, Life Burst
You can add or subtract Flame Spikes or Revivifies how you see fit. Since it's a macro and I was assigned DPS, I was able to get off Flame Spikes and the Engulf pretty fast.

How do you use the macro when the pet bar comes up and all of your UI bars disappear?

That's why I have it bound to the 'E' key - on a separate bar from your bottom bar (important).
My bottom bar never loads, either. I guess it's from CT bottom bar, but too lazy to mess with risking a Maly fight for testing my UI.
Then, when I find out whether I'm dps'ing or healing before the fight, I move my macro button to the slot on the bar where my 'E' key is bound and I'm good to go.
Typically, I reserve the 'E, Q, F, and G' keys for other functions but when there's a specialized battle, I'll move battle specific macros into those slots.

OK, I give, I made the macro. I'm going to go down and try out the macro on the Aces High Daily this weekend.

it works wonders. all you really have to do is concentrate on staying with the raid and spamming your button

Well the staying with the raid part is where I have most my problem and there really isn't a good way to do that. I figure that if I at least making pushing the buttons a little easier, I can do better at staying with the raid. I don't know if I was getting unlucky last night, but I died early on a couple attempts last night because I got disoriented. I believe I'm doing the stacks correctly, but I figure if I can make doing the stacks easier, I can then focus all my attention on making sure I'm going to the right spot.
For those of you who heard me bitching on Vent last night after the raid about this fight. I don't want anyone thinking that I'm saying we shouldn't be doing this fight. We should be doing this fight for 1 reason, some people in the guild need drops off him. However, it still doesn't mean that I can't feel that this is just a stupid way to end the pinnacle of WotLK raiding thus far. I actually like phases 1 and 2 of this fight. I think the mechanics of the fight are pretty cool up until the point you get on a dragon. This is also why I hate Oculus. I just hope Blizzard is done with these gimmick fights where you have to learn how to fight on some weird mount. They're fine for solo quests, not group stuff.
Regardless of how I feel about the fight, I still want to get back to farming this guy every week. I don't have to like it but I still want this bastard dead every week.

I hate this whole entire fight. The vortex is annoying, i dont get to do ANYTHING during this. I can never click the disks fast enough when they fall, this is mostly a video lag problem on my part.
And phase 3:
Is there a mod that lets you track your OWN fukking DoT?
Hey look, a bunch of DoTs are up, which fukking one is mine?
There is no reason for this fight to be so annoying. I have no idea why i always end up out of range on this asshole. I wonder if i can put someone on auto follow in this phase.

I haven't used this, though, so can't really say it's nice or not. I may mess with it sometime over the next few days. I think they mention you can test it on the Aces High Daily, as well...for positioning and stuff.

That is the mod i was using last night. It works well. Just find your name and see if you are keeping up. I just wish it would save the info for after the fight so I could have seen what was happening.
My inclination is their is a distance thing going on and that's why people are losing their dot stacks. I think Raven made the suggestion to scroll your mini map in so you can see the circumference better. I think that is a great idea. The drake part of this fight is all about flying in a circle on your mini map. There really is no reason to look up other than to confirm you are in the center of the group when we hit each clock position.
I'm glad to see that people aren't quitting on it. I want to beat him and farm him for the simple reason that he is kicking our ass. Nothing more. I hate losing and I know we are all good enuf to farm him like a joke once we figure out our little quirks that are holding us back.
Also, thanks to Ilure for knowing about the pet bug. That made the first phase normal again so we could own him like another BBB Boss Bitch!

In regards to Bifur's post. I would consider Sarth 3D as the pinnacle of current raiding in terms of actuality. I know Malygos is a dragon aspect and all but 3D is way more challenging. Just my 2 coppers worth.
I would chalk the last two weeks up to buggy fight mechanics and the dragons. I know when we were working on him in 10man version we had a lot of trouble on that phase and we were fighting Maly several times a night, several times a week until we got him down. It's a practice thing. Once everyone gets moving on the drakes down and stacking the DoTs down pat, we got him. I'll say this until I'm blue in the face, but the Aces High daily really is a good resource for practicing that phase of Maly. I would recommend it to everyone.

We must get him down |
|
I think we must get him down, just for the fact that he has us on farm. I know he is a pain, but we can take him down. I say that we give 3 tries on him tonight, before we go for Sarth 3D. Lets keep it simple and use Ravenden's macro for DPS (3*flame strikes followed by 1*engulf). That way people just have to ensure they press one macro keybinding and not have to worry about pressing 1 and 2 while moving. I have put up macros for healing and DPS on my action bar on the right and assigned it to 'J' key. For third phase, I don't need mouse; i plan to use WASDEQ keys for movement and 'J' key for either DPS or heals as I am assigned. [/i]
